ABOUT ABOUT

FUSS & JEX

Sara Jecko (Jex) started taking guitar lessons on the Upper West Side as a young teenager, which is where she met Joseph Fucso (Fuss). Joseph would play funky, punky beats on the drums while Sara would practice her power chords and pentatonic blues scales.

Years later, they formed a band.

Formerly Sarabande (2014-'17 with the addition of bassist Mat Fieldes), Fuss & Jex are a soulful and jazzy mix of rock with a smidgen of pop. They put on a warm and intimate show, allowing you to feel as though you've known them for as long as they have known each other, or longer.

Diverse originals with a spattering of favorite covers, their sound has been compared to Annie Lennox; an electrified mix of Motown and Joni Mitchell; and as one sound mixer put it:

“If Tom Waits and Steely Dan had a baby”

Whether Jecko is in various costumes or just dressed as herself, their performances have been described by audiences as personal, mysterious, raw, and kick ass.

Joseph Fusco is always thrilled to play drums and sing with Sara Jecko. He is the drummer and singer of The Joseph Fusco 3. Their debut EP, Devil On Saint Marks, is currently available on iTunes. He is also a filmmaker, and directed the award-winning documentary, "Finish Line: The Rise and Demise of Off-Track Betting." Follow on IG: @MrJosephFusco

Sara Jecko majored in Jazz Performance at SUNY New Paltz and has since performed and recorded originals and covers locally and nationally. Her training has helped land vocal and instrumental roles in several NYC rock operas and has indeed lended her comfort as the ridiculous lounge-act improv-centric co-creator counterpart of THE COLOR F ( NYC), an explosive vaudeville-esque cabaret, which led to Jecko’s inspiration to gather some of the cast and friends (including Fusco) to create VAMPED (NYC ‘19- pre-pan ’20).

But before the jazz and the tours and the vaudeville parties, oh my, there was of course the theatre.

Sara had been a painfully shy child before the age of 8, when she started having fun and studying acting at Kid City Theater Company, a beloved program at Greenwich Village's 13th Street Theatre.

As an adult, her theater career has spanned from exploring the slower depths of guarded vulnerability to avant-garde experiments, to the glorious camp of dinner theater and improv.

She has also had the good fortune of acting in film and television projects, including the award-winning indie darling, LITTLE BI PEEP { wr: Anna Shields, dir: Jon Russell Cring, Tracy Nichole Cring), and has had the pleasure of assistant directing a Joe Minion short, AIRPORT, 2012.

She is honored to be teaching as an adjunct in the music department at her Alma Mater, as well as independently via zoom and in person.

Jecko is proud and grateful to have grown up in Manhattan, yet thrilled to be living with her family where she now calls home - the Hudson Valley. Sarajecko.com

Fuss & Jex are extremely excited to play music together and see you again, or meet you virtually for the first time on May 23rd!
